Objectives
The team of Gaza-Palestine.org has decided to create a space of freedom in the form of a multilingual website to preserve and enhance the art and culture of the People of Palestine.
This team has collected its motivation from various testimonies and writings, summarized in particular by Leïla Shahid, former Delegate General of Palestine in France and Brussels:
in her paper “What saves Palestine from attempted erasure is our cultural resistance”, she writes
"How is it that we have such a rich cultural production?
Because it is the form of resistance we have found to exist with dignity, to exist as part of a universality.
To fight against the denial of our identity and to express its subjectivity.
Without a cultural dimension, you are just a “community”.
But when you have a strong, living culture, you are a people".
(In "Agir par la culture" #74, "Magazine politique & culturel", automne-hiver 2024, p. 14-17).
Member of the Belgo-Palestinian Association, Marianne Blume writes, in her article "Cultural genocide and resistance in Palestine":
"Whether it is literature, theatre or cinema, dance or music, painting or sculpture, every field of art is involved.
The mere fact that an actor or artist is internationally recognized as a Palestinian is enough to affirm the existence of Palestine".
(In "Agir par la culture" #74, "Magazine politique & culturel", automne-hiver 2024, p. 18-21).
The aim of the online action Gaza-Palestine.org in solidarity is therefore to contribute to this objective on a long-term basis.
The website managers develop the portal on their independently owned server, based in Europe under European law and in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
The Gaza-Palestine.org portal will include whatever its partners deem useful:
- Listing the elements already existing online (websites or social networks);
- Referencing documents, articles, books and all publications related to Palestine;
- Illustrating the culture and art of Palestine: writing, painting, graphics, photography, crafts, music, dance, theatre, gastronomy,…;
- Collecting testimonies of history and stories of collective memory;
- Producing and publishing interviews with witnesses, craftspeople and artists;
- Publishing videos of authors, artists, choirs, music, dance, theatre, …;
- and any other idea that can be suggested to keep Palestine alive beyond the genocide perpetrated against its people.
The authors and artists will have their own section developed in French and in English on the portal by the Gaza-Palestine.org web managers, including <pdf> documents for the other languages concerned.
Their illustrated works will obviously remain their sole property and their contact details being published as they see fit.
The solidarity action Gaza-Palestine.org is dedicated to the fields of art and culture, it has no financial nor commercial objectives.
Would you like to contribute to our action in solidarity? Will you suggest to add artists, sources, links, your own work or stories to our website?
Contact the team by completing this form.
We will be happy to get back in touch with you. Thank you for your message and welcome!
